Choosing Your Location and Time

It's time to choose the location and time for your family session.

Are you looking for historical? greenery? water? sand? city? street art? exposed Brick? cobblestone?

Some people know right away where they want to have their photos taken.  Maybe it is a place your family spends a lot of time at so it holds a special place in your heart or maybe your top priority is to pick a place your children can run around and explore.

Some families love to have photos taken in and around their home and I think that's a great option.  With young kids this can make life easier but if you have children who smile bigger when they are out and about this might not be for you.

Many military families are looking to capture their duty station which makes the beach and Cherry Blossoms appealing in this area. In DC the monument sessions are super meaningful.

At the end of the day the moments matter most, not the location.  So take a minute and think about where your family will have the most fun.

Here are a few of the locations I have listed.  Let's chat and pick the perfect place for your crew!

Pleasure House Point

This location is fun but there are a lot of people here in the Fall taking photos.  Weekdays are best for this location but can be done on the weekend.

What is the best time to shoot?

The best time for your photo session as far as lighting is during the golden hours.  The golden hours are the hour after sunrise and the hour before sunset. When planning around families we just want to get as close as we can to those times.

Below are my recommendations on places in the area but I am open to anywhere as long as commercial photographers are allowed and it is within a 20 mile radius of Great Neck in VA Beach.  A travel fee will be added if out of this radius.

Happy picking!
