The start of something good
This is our 6th day here. So far we are doing well and staying positive. Saying goodbye was harder than I thought but
technology has really helped me cope with that.
I still have the capability to text, call, and video call….all for free
as long as I have wifi(but keep in mind wifi isn't the best). The only real issue is time
difference and that will take a little while to get used to.
Our travels went well and we were very happy to arrive. We had a few hiccups when we first arrived
but it was all taken care of. We are
staying in a very nice hotel in a 2 bedroom apt. Corbyn has plenty of room to run around and
he loves looking out the window. After the 5th night of sleeping we
feel like we are getting very close to normal schedule. Also, a Navy wife brought us a pack and play yesterday which Corbyn seemed more comfortable in. We are not a fan of the hotel metal cribs. It's really awesome how people are so willing to help.
Here are a few pictures of our travels:
We were grateful that Corbyn was able to have his own seat!
This was a tired baby after we arrived at 5AM on Thursday. Corbyn and I slept until 2pm that afternoon so this little guy was all mixed up.
Luckily another family is staying here and they have been
incredibly helpful. They have a two year
old daughter and are expecting a boy very soon.
We will not be able to get our car for another 2 weeks and they have
been willing to take us to the store, let me and Corbyn ride along for play
dates, and give me the 411 on Bahrain living.
I am feeling very blessed to have her here and I believe it has made the
world of difference on my adjusting.
This is Corbyn's play area. We were able to get our hands on a few toys! We set it up right by the window because he loves it there.
They have a wonderful pool area at our Hotel which we visit
daily. If we don’t go during the day
Bryan takes Corbyn for a dip in the evening.
He is our little water baby and is ready to swim.
It is nice and hot(and humid) but totally bearable. Right now,2:00PM, it's 93 with 30% humidity. My South Texas skin has prepared me! Besides I
can’t complain because we came at the nice time of year. Because it gets so hot they offer a lot of indoor
activities. Corbyn and I are used to
spending the majority of our day outside so that will be an adjustment. We went to play place in the
mall for a play date with the Navy Wives. It was like a mini town for the
little guys. It had a bunch of different
rooms including the Fire Station, Post Office, and Grocery Store. Little things like that reassure me that my little
busy bee and I will have plenty to do.
We haven’t been able to drive around and I am fine with that
right now. The drivers here are quite
crazy. I am sure with time we will become great defensive drivers :)
We went to a housing brief today and we will start to look
at housing soon. I am excited to get a
hold of our stuff but at the same time our hotel isn’t too shabby of a place to
wait. Probably the most frustrating part
is the kitchen isn’t very equipped for cooking, but we are totally making do
and grateful we have a kitchen!
So overall our first almost week here has been good. Looking back I really tried to prepare myself as much before
heading here but actually being here is the reality. We will have a lot to adjust to, but I think as a family we are doing quite well. As Dorothy says…”There is no place like home”….but
for now this will be our home and you better believe we are going to make the best
of it….because that’s what the Wolfe Pack does!
Another view from our Hotel.
Grocery shopping is one of the many adjustments, but I am happy they have stuff like yummy activia. Haven't found greek yogurt yet.
