Looking at the big picture
We each have a car!!! We have had them for about 2 weeks and
are feeling confident about driving around here. With the constant construction, careless
drivers, poor street signs, and no navigation system in the car it was an
adjustment. When we got the cars we were
incredibly grateful. This has been a
humbling experience to say the least.
Knowing we can get by with essentials and not necessarily needing all
the extras. However, I would be lying if
I said I couldn’t wait to get all those extras in a few days.
We had a good stay at the Gulf Hotel but it was time. The people who worked there were so kind and
it was slightly sad to say goodbye because of that. Corbyn looked forward to seeing his friends every
day.
We moved in our new place thinking we would have our stuff
the next day….on Thanksgiving…what a Thanksgiving treat right?….but due to
miscommunication we will have to wait a few days. A couple people came to our rescue and gave
us the essential items we needed (towel, sheet, blanket, pillows, pan, boiling
pot, and utensils). Luckily there is a
guest bedroom set and dining table that was left as part of the semi
furnishings. So looking at the big
picture and not all the minor details it feels so incredibly good to be
here. It feels like a home and we love
the area! Corbyn seems to love it more
than we do!!!! We have easy access
outside and I never realized how much that meant to me!!!!!! I mean I love the
outdoors, but I pretty much need fresh air for my soul and several times a
day.
So now we are one more step closer to making it our home and
right in time for Christmas!! Now that’s good timing if you ask me.
We are making friends and staying busy. We plan to save all the tourist stuff for our
visitors. We are blessed to have quite a
few coming in Feb and March. Helen, Tom,
and Aunt Zane will join us for a little over a week. My mom will be joining us in the middle of
March until right after Easter. We(me,
Corbyn, and mom) will take a grand
adventure to Greece while she is here. Something we have talked about and now
the opportunity is in front of us! I am also waiting on a special someone who
is on her own adventure to book if flight, but it all goes according to planned
then she will be here between those visits.
Thanksgiving wasn’t a normal Thanksgiving, but bottom line
is we have so much to be grateful for!! We were very happy to see a long time
friend JJ who will be here for 6 months.
Corbyn has a ball with JJ and I know they will be great pals. Hoping to get Sara (his wife) over here for a
visit! Come on Sara you know you want to!!!
Here are a few pictures of how we spent our Thanksgiving
A a few other things we are getting used to
-Everything is measured in Kilometers
-Temperature is measured in Celsius so makes cooking fun to convert
-You have to turn the outlets on when using them
-Drinking water is a must bc tap water is not too tasty
-Stoves are not insulated as good at the US so beware
-Instead of cleaning leaves we clean dust
-For every Bahrain Dinar it is 2.6 american dollar
As far as Corbyn he is growing like a weed, books are his favorite, he loves being outside, he loves people and is totally unaware of stranger danger, he loves giving kisses, he loves his daddy to the moon and back, he adores animals, he is learning lots of new words and signs, he loves to face time with his granparents, and he is just a cool little dude!
