A day in the life
It has been a busy month for us getting settled into our new
place, going on a trip, and all the other fun stuff that comes along with the
Christmas season.
Our trip to Germany and Austria was like walking in a winter
wonderland. The sights, the
sounds, the weather, the food, and quality time with my two boys!! It was more
than I could ask for. It will be a trip I will forever hold in my heart. I will
post a link that National geographic posted of Salzburg, Austria. It is a beautiful video that captures
the beauty of the city and if you ever have the chance to go to either places I would surely go. We didn't get snow while we were there but we enjoyed the leftover snow from the week prior to our visit.
Christmas in Bahrain was very nice. Last year we were apart and this year we
are blessed to be together. That is enough to make it a wonderful
day. Corbyn of course thought it
was a pretty cool day. It felt like Christmas at home because it was in the 70s.
Now January is here!
As I look back on this year I feel completely blessed. Although Byran was gone for 7 months we still had so much fun
and adventure in our lives. I spent time in the places I love with the people I love! Being
a parent is absolutely amazing and brings so much more joy into my life. Watching Bryan as a parent is an
amazing experience as well.
However, we are nowhere near perfect and we can only strive to be our
best. My dad always would tell me as a teenager and into college
that the phone was attached to my ear and being the social person I am he was
right. Actually, my parents are
usually right. As
technology has become such a key role in our lives I struggle to get away from
it. I feel like I am way to
dependent on it. So my new years
resolution is strive to be a better hands free mom, which will in turn also
help me become a better wife. Corbyn
is getting older and before I know it he will not want to sit and play with
mommy so I am going to enjoy my time with my sweet little baby boy.
My Bahrain fact of the day:
Bryan read in a paper here in Bahrain that the average Bahrani citizen spends 9,000 bd(x 2.66 and that's 23,940 american dollars) on luxury goods per month. Meanwhile I read an average American family made about 40, 000 a year in 2010.

Life in Bahrain is a little different then
I imagined it. I had this idea that I would get involved in the culture and
really get to know people from Bahrain.
I am finding that more difficult than I thought it would be. Meeting people from other countries has been great and I enjoy that very much. I did meet a woman from Bahrain
after writing this and had a short conversation with her which gives me hope on meeting and learning more from the local people. I hope to discover the
Middle East geographically as much I can. We
have a weekend trip planned in January to Muscat, Oman. Bryan says it is beautiful and the
people are very nice. I miss being
able to just get in the car and go for a weekend trip so trips like these will
help feed the ants in my pants while we are here in Bahrain. We are blessed to have found a great babysitter. They seem to have a great time together and Bryan and I are able to go out on dates! Hip hip hooray!
Corbyn and I have a pretty full schedule now. He will start a gymnastics class next
week and we are very excited about it.
We spend as much time outside as we can and find as many friends as we
can to keep us company. I am going to start putting my pins on pinterest into action with Corbyn and get messy. I will post those on here in case anyone wants to join in on the messiness. After all, great ideas come from somewhere. Oh and we had our break on teething and the little guy is starting up again. Bryan seems to think he will wait until we go back to Texas to really rack in the two years molars bc well that’s where he likes to do his teething ;) I like to hope we can just get on with it and be done.
On another note this kid makes me laugh! He seems to already have a good sense of humor. He has some great facial expressions that just brighten up my day. He has become quite the social butterfly. I am pretty sure he thinks when our friends come over they are here to see and play with him.
Being in a place where ships pull into port is quite nice. We had a friend over the other day and he was very appreciative for his first home cooked meal in 6 months. The thing is... it is just as wonderful for us!! It gives us that feeling of home!
And if you see this Aunt Melissa, that is the truck book you gave him. Oh my goodness does he love that book! I have to hide it every so often bc otherwise I would have to read it to him everyday at least 20 times. Corbyn thanks you! I on the other hand..... :)
