Delightfully Busy

It has been delightfully busy around here.  We absolutely enjoyed Helen, Tom, and Zane’s visit, and as usual it went by too fast.  Corbyn is growing fast in size and personality.  I know they were sad to leave us(Bryan and I), but the little man made it extra hard on our guests to say goodbye.  He enjoyed them as much as they enjoyed spending time with him.  It took him no time at all to work them into catering to his needs and wants.   It was a common scene to see Crazy Pa crawling around on the floor chasing Corbyn around  or see grandma giving him something tasty(sweet) to eat.  I am not sure who wore out who, but at the end of the day we were all always ready for bed.   I was able to see a few new sites in Bahrain while they were here that I haven’t seen including the Camel Farm, Grand Mosque and the Local Souq.  During their visit we had restrictions on where we could go due to protests and such but we made the best of it.  Overall, the trip accomplished the mission, spend time with family, see some sites, and have a few cold frosty beverages.  Like I said before, no matter how long the visit, it never seems like there is enough time.

A few days later Alissa came for a visit.  She stayed for 2 weeks and as usual 2 weeks went by way too fast.  I haven’t spent that much time with her since she last lived in Corpus Christi when we were in 7th grade.  It was positively wonderful.  We explored the Bahrain Fort, Manama Souq, and Delmon Pottery.  It is really easy to get lost at the Souq, but it makes for a fun experience.  Shopping at the Souq reminds me of shopping at the border towns in Mexico or China town in big cities.  I was just happy we actually made it to all the places and I was happy to have a good navigator.  There aren’t street signs so getting from point A to point B takes a little more concentration.  The weekend before she left we went to Dubai for a girl’s weekend.  We pretty much did as much as we could in two full days.  Being this is something that doesn’t happen every day we absolutely soaked in every moment.

The girl's weekend couldn’t have happened at a better time.  Mommy needed to get rejuvenated after a long month and a half. Corbyn has had 2 ear infections, an everlasting cold, working on molars, and allergies.  So although he is adorable in every way it has been a little difficult at times around here.  This past week he seems back to normal besides a little congestion so we think the allergy medicine is helping.  His obsession with cars continues to grow.  He differentiates between big cars and little cars.  Love trucks, busses, cars, planes, bikes and pretty much anything with an engine or wheels.  His favorite movie….Yup Disneys Cars.  His second favorite movie, of course is Cars 2.  Watching these movies is one of the few times he sits still other than sleeping.  He is a typical boy.  His second favorite thing to do besides play with cars is to go bye bye.  He will run to the door, run to the stroller, run to the car, and now run to the bike.  His run is a high stepping one of a kind.  Always ready for the next adventure.

Now we are a day away from welcoming my mom for a visit!!  When visitor season comes to close it sure will be hard to adjust, but I couldn’t be more grateful for it.

I have been putting little books in Corbyn’s bed so he has something to keep him busy when he wakes up in the morning.  Someone (Alissa) had the grand idea to attach a little basket to the crib filled toys.  This morning I listened as he played with his toys for quite some before calling for mommy and daddy.  I wanted to share the idea because it worked so wonderfully for us.  He has no problem playing in his crib but now he actually has something to play with besides his aquarium and books.  So if it means 5 more minutes than momma is happy! Just throwing it out there for other moms because it hadn't even crossed my mind.

Last month's pinterest idea put to work: For Bryan’s Valentine’s gift we put down electrical tape to spell Love.  Corbyn  finger painted over the tape.  Once it was dried we took the tape off and this is what we got.  I was pretty happy with the outcome.

I am going to attach a few links in case you are interested in reading about what has been going on here.  It really only effects where we can and can't go at times. We are safe over here:)

And last but not least a picture of my two handsome men!

And a picture of the fun art Corbyn did, with the help of mom of course,  at our play date today!
