A Corbyn Blog

What makes Corbyn, Corbyn?

Since our family and friends back home don't get to see Corbyn often enough I thought I’d give you a little insight as to what makes Corbyn, Corbyn. These are just a few things that stick out to me.

We all know his obsession with cars.  It carries over to the actual car.  He absolutely can’t wait to get in the car everyday and “Go for a ride in car seat.”  He knows what it looks like when you’re getting ready to get out the door. The purse, the shoes, brushing your teeth in the morning, getting dressed…these are all dead give aways.  Warning: don’t start the process unless you are ready to head out the door.  A fake out can end in real tears.  If I plan to head to the car to grab the stroller I have to remember to make it clear  we are going for a walk in the stroller several times before heading down or it might result in a few more tears.

He knows his friends parent’s cars.  He is watching you get in and out of your car.  He knows the color and size (car, truck, truck car..etc).

He has never been the kid to ask for cartoons until recently.  He has discovered Curious George and loves him.  A few mornings ago the first words out of his mouth were “The man with the yellow hat”.  Ma (grandma Helen) sent him a Curious George dvd and the other morning I watched as he tried about 10 times to work the remotes and play George. He failed and I won.  I hate to say it but it was fun to watch.

He hasn’t slowed down when it comes to chowing down.  I watched as he took a bite of one of his little friends sandwiches right out of her hand.   He was happy, but the look of disgust on her face was priceless!  He is a human vacuum just like his daddy and I have a hard time keeping up with it.  He will still try to eat crayons, markers, play dough, and glue.  He knows it’s not tasty but seems to always go back for more just to make sure the flavor hasn’t changed.  He has become quite the little artist and I love watching him be creative.  However, I could do without him eating the supplies.

He loves his friends and people in general.  Anytime I mention someone is coming over or we are going to someones house he proceeds to mention all of his best buddies in pure excitement. He still likes to kiss his friends.  A hug and a kiss are the same thing to him.  One doesn’t come without the other.  I am working on high fives and fist bumps for the friends that don’t appreciate his sloppy mess of a kiss. You can thank me later. He also likes to charm his friend’s parents.  If we run into kids he doesn't know when we are out he greets them with lots of rambling.  He calls most men dad unless he knows their name.  We are working on it and slowly he has changed to addressing them as man.

He loves to “brush the teeth”. Anytime a day he sees the toothbrush he is ready for a good brushing.   We shall see if this sticks.

The next best thing besides cars are books.  He could sit and listen to me and Bryan (well anyone for that matter) and read books all day long.  His favorite at the moment are (but are always changing)" Go, dog, Go", "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish", "Curious George", "Trucks", and the "Potty Book".  He likes to chuck a couple books over into the crib before lights out.

He is fearless which is scary to us.  He will walk straight into a pool, go down big water slides on his own, walk straight down the stairs even though he knows to “hold the rail”, run to check out "race cars", etc.  He truly is a boy. No Fear!

When Bryan is at work he walks by our bedroom and says “daddy is sleeping” or “daddy’s work”.  Like most kids he adore his dad and knows how lucky he is.  He likes to “make a tent” with dad and call mom or “Lize” in the room to scare him.

He likes to facetime with his grandparents.  He tries to feed them through the screen.  He gets upset when they show him toys because he wants to grab them.  He loves to see Jax and Muller (GG and Dude's dogs) and Bob the bird.

Last but not least before he lays in bed with the two cars and a book he picked out to go to bed with we say his prayers.  I love listening to his little voice say “thank you God for mommy and daddy, thank you God for GG and Dude, thank you God for Ma and Pa,…………….
