Tribute to our travels
As we wrap up our tour here in Bahrain I thought I would pay
a tribute to all the fantastic adventures we have had the privilege of going on
with a few pictures and comments. Something Corbyn can look back on when he is older. When Bryan told me we had orders to
Bahrain I wasn’t the happiest camper but the thought of traveling to
destinations I never dreamed of excited me. While pregnant with Corbyn we decided we would go to Italy
because well, you know once you have a baby traveling becomes harder and you
just don’t do it as much. All
wrong in our case. We just got smart and efficient at traveling with a little
one. I am not sure we will ever have 2 years of traveling to so
many countries as we did these past two.
We aren’t opposed to another overseas tour, but maybe somewhere a little
closer this time like Germany.
Maybe, just maybe. We are extremely grateful for all that we have done
here and we are definitely leaving here fulfilled with travel memories. On the other hand, I will say road
trips sound fantastic and we can’t wait to explore more of our own backyard!!
America truly is a beautiful country filled with so many treasures that one could
spend a lifetime discovering.
Muscat, Oman:
What a beautiful country. Although we only saw a little bit
of the big country we were in love.
Just like many people stationed here after a long weekend visit in Oman
we didn’t want to return home(both times). The native people were refreshingly friendly and the scenery
was beautiful. The desert,
mountains, and ocean all wrapped up in one. Corbyn and I had our first camel ride in Muscat. Corbyn's favorite part was helping a man drive the boat while we wake-boarded.
Duabi & Abu Dhabi, UAE
These two emirates of the UAE are special in there own
way. Dubai is filled with countless things
to do, so much you can keep coming
back for more. Both places made of
money and you can see it everywhere.
The desert is the picturesque desert you see in the movies. I had the opportunity to go on a tour of the desert and the world's tallest building twice on my trips. One visit with family and one with a very dear friend. On our visit to Abu Dhabi we did a city tour of Abu Dhabi and toured it's beautiful Grand Mosque. I don't think I will ever see a vending machine that dispenses gold again. We shared this adventure good friends. Corbyn's favorite part of Dubai was riding on a quad and dune bashing through the desert. "WEEEEE"
Munich, Germany
Munich during the Christmas Markets is something I never
thought I would experience. I am
absolutely in love with Christmas and this was like walking through a winter
wonderland. The beautiful
buildings, the smells, the hustle and bustle of people, and the sound of
Christmas. The Ghulwein was tasty
and made walking around in the cold a little more bearable. The architecture was lovely and we definitely talk about going back. Corbyn's favorite part was the food! He loved the pretzels and the weinerschnitzel.
Salzburg, Austria
This little town is splendid! It is slow paced which I love!
The Salzach River runs through the town and The Alps are in the
background. Quite picturesque. We took a train from Munich to Salzburg.
What a wonderful treat. Corbyn's favorite part was chasing the birds around the square.
Athens & Mykonos, Greece
Greece has always been on my top places to travel and living
here it actually became affordable.
I never thought I would be going on a trip with my mom and my son to
Greece. What a special time. Athens is a historically rich
city. We learned a little, ate a
little, and walked a lot. Mykonos Island was definitely what I pictured and had
seen in the movies. The beautiful
small roads winding in and out of the beautiful white buildings with blue
accents. It was a gorgeous maze which we loved getting lost in. Corbyn's favorite part was running around the winding streets searching for cats.
Phuket, Thailand
This is another place I never thought I would be able to
travel to and in fact I never thought about it much because it is so far away
from the states. Filled with
beautiful tropical scenery and gorgeous water. The people were friendly and our stay
was delightful. Phi Phi Island was something out of my wildest dreams. Truly a place like none other. We met our friends here who were stationed in Singapore at the time and enjoyed part of our trip with them. Corbyn's favorite part was swimming with the fish.
Naples & Positano, Italy
I was able to go on another trip with my mom. Her second top
travel choice has always been Italy.
We are both in love with coastlines so we decided to take an adventure
to the Amalfi Coast and we heard Positano was the best place to stay. Positano was straight out of a dream
and I can’t wait to go back and show Bryan one day. We stayed at a beautiful boutique hotel overlooking the
Mediterranean and the little town. It took my breath away.
We flew out of Naples so we were able to venture out a little. It is a very busy city filled with
culture and history. Corbyn's favorite part was eating the local lemon candy.
Cyrpus Island
Our last family trip before we set sail back to the
states. Cyprus is owned by Greece
and Turkey but is it’s own special place.
The people are diverse and super friendly. We went to the Troodos Mountains to a very small village
where we enjoyed ourselves.
Getting away from all the noise does a soul some good. Then we made our way to beach in
Paphos. We enjoyed relaxing
here. We went on a boat cruise to
the Blue Lagoon on the Mediterranean which once again is a beautiful. Corbyn's favorite part was playing with dad on the slide at the resort.
…..and that's a wrap! These pictures are definitely the highlights of our overseas tour! All the challenges we faced in the two years paid off because we are able to leave with such rich memories!
