Introducing Betsy Ross

Let's start with a little about why our new addition to the family is so exciting!

Our crazy sweet 4 year old:
When he loves, he loves hard
When he plays. he plays hard
When he talks, he doesn’t stop!

He has an infectious smile and enough love to make anyone feel special.
He wears his heart on his sleeve.
And you will almost never be denied a hug or kiss from this guy even if you are a stranger.

Corbyn’s favorites in life are cars, people, and dogs.
In fact, probably in that order.
Ever since he was a wee little guy I knew he needed a dog someday.  In the meantime any dog he has had the pleasure of playing with filled that void.  It’s impossible to walk by a dog without him asking if he can pet him/her.  Only of course if a really cool car was passing by simultaneously.  So you can imagine the wonder in his eyes when we told him he would be getting a dog for his fourth birthday.

Unfortunately it wasn’t as easy as that.  For our family we knew we had to get the most hypoallergenic dog possible because we have pet allergies.  So we decided to go with a Goldendoodle.  We looked for a dog that would be born and ready to take home around Corbyn’s birthday.  We thought it was planned perfectly.  We waited patiently and then received news that the momma had miscarried.  How sad we were.  I learned a lesson, well at least I thought I did.  Don’t tell Corbyn until the puppies are born.  We decided to go with a different breeder and we fell in love with them and I was happy with our decision.  So again we found another litter that would be born in time to take home for Corbyn’s birthday but we received the dreaded news again that the momma had miscarried.  I couldn’t believe it and the breeder couldn’t either.  This was the first time this had happened to them in fifteen years.  At this point we disappointed not only ourselves but Corbyn again.  We decided to tell him that we would have a Christmas puppy.  He seemed to accept that, although he doesn’t really know when that is.  The litter that would be ready the soonest was a Labordoddle.  So we decided to pray and hopefully we would have a Labordoodle puppy soon.  Third time was a charm ladies and gentleman and now we will be welcoming our baby girl Betsy Ross home mid November!! However, Betsy has a story. Betsy’s momma spent the morning with an “old friend” before they realized it was go time.  Once they put her with the partner she was supposed to breed with the deed had already been done.  So we had another surprise when we found out the puppies came from another dad.  Luckily the dad was the same breed as who they planned pairing the momma with.  They knew because of the coloring and then they did a paternity test.   Again, this was a big surprise to them and had never happened in the past.  We were just happy the litter was healthy and hope Betsy isn't as big of a hussie as her momma.

The way Corbyn says Betsy is about the cutest thing ever.  I get mixed advice from people.  Some people say, why would you do that when you have young kids!? Especially a newer baby. They are so much work!!!  Labordoodles have so much energy.  Others tell me it’s amazing having a dog around.  It completes the house.  Both Bryan and I grew up with dogs.  It just seemed like the missing puzzle piece! I know it will be work, but there is no better time for us than now because Bryan is on shore duty.  We absolutely can’t wait to add a little more chaos to our busy lives!!

Share your tips friends!! We will take any advice.  This is our first pet in the Wolfe household!

Here are some pics of Corbyn and his four legged friends.  I have a strong feeling Tristyn will be just as in love with Betsy as we all will be.
