Motherhood Goals!

Corbyn made me a mom five years ago! Five years ago I started my journey into motherhood blindly.  Besides the books I had read and the kids I babysat in the past I had no clue what I was doing.  Very few of my friends had babies by this point.  This was in a time where mom wars were at a high! The pressure of doing things the "right way" was lurking around my every move.  This is when the pinterest mom came into play! Don't get me wrong I love to pinterest and crafting with the best of them.  This is when FB usage was rising and the opinions of others were being voiced online more and more.  With Bryan not in the picture for the first year I was just simply doing the best I could (most days anyway).  Some days I was sleep deprived and in a wondering state.  Here I am five years later and I couldn't be more grateful for movies like "Bad Moms" or t-shirts that say "World's Most Okayest Mom".  This was not a trend five years ago but God Bless these women that made it so! The ones that spoke out and said we aren't perfect! The ones that spoke out and said that motherhood is a hard job, a draining job, but the most rewarding one at the same time! I couldn't be more thankful for the memes and blogs that have been created to make moms laugh!  We need those in a social media world! We need to feel we aren't alone.  My life feels like a walking comedy most days.  I feel so freed by the fact that we can all(well mostly) agree that we are just average janes trying to raise our kids to be the best humans they can be.  I am not here to make sure my kids lunch is approved by others, I am here to make sure the kid has food and hopefully it's decently healthy.  I am not here to make sure my boys don't have smudges on their face all day long, I am here to make sure they have fun while creating those smudges.  I am not here to make sure they can sing the abcs by two, I am here to make sure they have a genuine love for music and learning.  At this point in my motherhood journey I am just so darn thankful I have women to share my failures and my accomplishments with.  Do yourself a favor and watch the link on 90s moms if you haven't already seen it.  It's hilarious and awesome and I am sort of jealous I wasn't a 90s mom.

"Here's to great women! May we know them, may we be them, may we raise them."
